08 NIGHTS / 09 DAYS
DAY 1 – AIRPORT – NEGOMBO
Arrival to Sri Lanka by your choice of flight and you will be met by our Guide at the Arrival Lounge. Thereafter you will be driven to the West Coast City of Negombo where you will spend the night. Upon arrival check into your hotel where you will spend the rest of the day at leisure or depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the surrounding areas of your hotel such as the local villages or even venture into central Negombo.
DAY 2 – NEGOMBO – PINNAWELA - DAMBULLA
After an early morning breakfast you will be met by our Guide and will be driven to Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage where you will get to see a few orphaned elephants and also get an opportunity to feed them during their feeding hours. Thereafter you will be driven to Dambulla. This three hour journey to the North Central of Sri Lanka takes you through the lush green paddy fields, beautiful villages and unbeatable landscapes. Thereafter you will check-in to your hotel and will spend the rest of the day leisurely.
DAY 3 – DAMBULLA – SIGIRIYA – MINNERIYA – DAMBULLA
On this day you will have to rise early. You will be met by our Guide with yours packed breakfast whom will drive you to the Minneriya National Park for a safari. This national park is home to herds of elephants, deer and even the endangered leopard, so be sure to keep your eyes open! Thereafter you will be driven back to visit the Fortress of Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover the remnants of a ruined palace before climbing a few flights of stairs to the top of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress to enjoy a stunning sunset over the sunken gardens and the surrounding countryside. Thereafter return back to your hotel for the night.
DAY 4 – DAMBULLA – KANDY
After an early breakfast you will be met by our guide who will drive you to Kandy the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka. En-route you will stop at the legendary Dambulla Caves where your best companions will be the monkeys – though be sure to not let them snatch your belongings! After visiting the collection of Buddha statues and five caves, head onwards to Matale to visit a beautiful spice garden. Upon arrival in Kandy check-in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day leisurely among the cool hills.
DAY 5 – KANDY
After a leisurely breakfast you will be met by our Guide who will be ready to take you on a guided city tour of the Hill Capital. On this city tour you will visit the Historical Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, The Kandy Museum, The elegant Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and also witness a traditional Kandyan Cultural Dance Show. After exploring this historical city you will be transferred back to the hotel where you will spend the rest of the day leisurely.
DAY 6 – KANDY – GALLE
After a leisurely breakfast you will be met by our guide and will be driven through the busy towns to Galle the South Coast Capital of Sri Lanka. Upon arrival check-in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day leisurely by the sea.
DAY 7 - GALLE
Enjoy the morning at a leisurely pace with the smell of sea breeze and perhaps even the sounds of crashing waves. In the afternoon you will be taken to a Turtle Hatchery where you will get a chance to see the magnificent endangered species. Thereafter you will be taken for a boat ride down the Madu River. On this ride you will get to visit a 200 year Old Buddhist Temple, an endearing Cinnamon Plantation and a ride though century old mangroves. Thereafter you will head back to Galle where you will be taken on a guided tour of the Galle Dutch Fort. The Galle Fort was first built by the Portuguese in 1588 and then fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century. To this day this fort maintains a polished appearance and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since it “illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions”. Make sure to witness the stunning sunset from the fort. Thereafter return back to your hotel for the night.
DAY 8 – GALLE – COLOMBO
Enjoy the morning at leisurely pace. Afternoon you will be driven by our Guide to Colombo the Commercial Capital of Sri Lanka. Upon arrival you will be taken on a Guided city tour of Colombo. On tour you will be visiting the Independence Memorial Hall which is a National Monument, the gifted Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, the replica of Aukana Buddha Statue, the stunning Galle Face Green, The Historical Colombo Fort Colonial Area, The Colombo Museum and the local Pettah Bazaar. You can also do some souvenir shopping if interested. Thereafter you will check-in to your hotel where you will spend the rest of the day leisurely.
DAY 9 – COLOMBO – AIRPORT
Depending on your flight departure time, you may be able to enjoy a leisurely morning at your hotel or even continuing to explore a little bit more of Colombo before having to return to the Airport for your departure.
